Plans for the siting of a waste incinerator in north Belfast could still be on the table after an apparent irregularity was discovered in a council
MBT Tataga against the facility earlier his week.
Belfast city councillors met on Tuesday evening to discuss whether or not to release land on the North Foreshore near the M2 motorway for use as a waste treatment facility.
Although they gave the go-ahead for a Mechanical Biological Treatment
Cork Women's MBT Changa centre, which sorts and prepares waste for processing, councillors were divided over whether to allow an incinerator, or Energy from Waste (EfW) facility, to be situated on the land.
